HRH Queen Lizzie loves a gin tipple and in response to COVID19 her charity The Royal Collection have launched a special gin to help pull back losses from the lockdown of Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
The Queen loves a gin cocktail, with her and the late Queen Mother being known to enjoy an occasional gin served with Dubonnet the sweet fortified wine aperitif.
Like many other businesses the closure of the palace to the public during COVID has had a huge and serious impact on their finances, with losses from visitor admissions and related memorabilia sales.This has been an initiative and driver to launch the £40 bottle of gin, derived from 12 botanicals including the lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves and mulberry leaves from the Buckingham Palace garden, all designed to help the charity’s finances.
The Buckingham Palace gin is packaged in a classy turquoise bottle with a coronet and flowers label, a gold-coloured stopper and a sketch of Buckingham Palace.
The gin will be sold to the public and also will be served at Buckingham Palace official functions following the reopening on July 23 2020 if the Queen doesn't gather it all on preorder.
