Sometimes you can have it all, you live in one of Australia’s most beautiful spots, you get to put your passion behind a business making great gins in your micro distillery, you already have a number of awards under your belt and then you get the hat trick, your Navy Strength wins The Gin Guide’s best Navy strength for a full house of Gin awards.
Wolf Lane Distillery is a micro distillery in the heart of Cairns, Far North Queensland. Their gins and liqueurs are handcrafted with a strong focus on the local ingredients to deliver a slice of paradise in every sip.
We only hear great things from gin lovers who invest in any bottle of Wolf Lane's Gins so it was no surprise that The Gin Guide picked their Navy Strength as a winner.
The Gin Guide was launched in 2014 by spirits writer Paul Jackson as a global, independent resource for trade and consumers, and as a Membership organisation for gin producers.
The Gin Guide Awards is an annual and global celebration of exceptional spirits, distilleries and distillers in the industry. In 2020 the awards attracted hundreds of entries from over 30 different countries.
WOLF LANE NAVY STRENGTH GIN
The Navy Strength Gin pays homage to when gin was drunk by the Royal Navy officers and sailors alike whilst exploring the high seas. At 118 proof (58%), this gin packs a punch with strong notes of finger limes and ruby grapefruit. It will make a sailor out of you yet!
Greg at Wolf Lane was delighted with the recent Gin Award letting us know they "Had been awarded best Navy Gin plus best Navy in Australasia. It has joined the rest of our Gin range with an award to its name.” and we love their dedication and passion to creating unique spirits and liquors whilst they support local farmers and growers that opt for sustainable and organic farming.
The Distillery also has a Tasting room and Cellar Door in Cairns, whilst sadly closed due to COVID-19 as soon as normality returns lets all holiday at home and give these guys a visit.
Their tropical take on a traditional sloe gin; swapping sloe berries for locally grown Far North Queensland Davidson Plums. The plums are steeped for up to 3 months to produce a truly unique sloe style gin. With an earthy aroma that is reminiscent of plum jam, stewed rhubarb and a touch of sweetness. It makes for a perfect after dinner gin.
Pop over to the Gindex and have a browse, try their gins and let us know your favorites
